The Cubs split the doubleheader on Wednesday by winning the second game 4-2 and clinched the series 3-2 against St. Louis. With the win, Chicago improves to 16-8 and has a four game lead in the NL Central over Milwaukee.
In the opener, the Cubs were whipped from the start as Alec Mills didn’t look sharp. The Cubs could only manage two hits, both home runs. One from Ian Happ to open the game and one from pinch hitter Josh Phegley.
Adbert Alzolay was added to the roster as the 29th player for the doubleheader and started the second game.
