CINCINNATI — There’s no question that Kyle Hendricks is the Cubs’ best starting pitcher and with their best on the mound, he also served as the team’s best chance to snap their MLB-leading 12-game losing streak.
Hendricks was coming off one of the worst starts of his career going into Tuesday’s game as he allowed a career-high nine earned runs over four innings. But the Hendricks that came out against the Reds looked cool, calm and collected – a look he’s patented over the years.
After losing 12 straight games the only thing separating the Cubs from their 13th consecutive loss was their ace and in their 2-1 win over Cincinnati, he didn’t let them down.
