You wondered when the Cubs would acquire another pitcher.
Now is that time!
The Cubs announced the signing of righthanded pitcher Kohl Stewart, a free agent who had pitched in 2018 and 2019 with the Twins. He posted a 4.79 ERA and 1.435 WHIP in 17 appearances (six starts) with the Twins in those two seasons.
Stewart, who turned 26 last October, was the first-round pick (fourth overall) of the Twins in the 2013 draft — two picks after the Cubs selected Kris Bryant. He left the Minnesota organization after the 2019 season as a free agent and signed with the Orioles for 2020.
