The Cubs may not be major league moves despite all kinds of reports about their activity, but they remain aggressive in the depth department. Sources informed CI on Wednesday that they were nearing a deal with Brad Keller, and that the pact was officially announced late Friday morning. But that’s not all. Patrick Mooney of the Athletic reported that the Cubs have also signed lefty Brandon Hughes, a left-handed reliever who debuted with Chicago in 2022 after converting from the outfield.
Keller has logged over 700 innings in the major leagues, most recently appearing with the Red Sox.
