Well, not the best news…
The Chicago Cubs today selected catcher Christian Bethancourt from Triple-A Iowa and placed catcher Tomás Nido on the 10-day injured list with a right knee sprain (retroactive to July 25). To make room on the 40-man roster, right-handed pitcher Ben Brown has been transferred to the 60-day injured list.
Bethancourt, 32, signed a minor league contract with the Cubs on July 4 and, in seven games with the Iowa Cubs, is hitting .192 (5-for-26). He spent the majority of the season with the Miami Marlins and batted .159 (13-for-82) with three doubles, two home runs and seven RBI across 38 games.
