The Cubs made a series of roster moves Saturday afternoon, resulting in veteran Chris Gimenez joining the MLB club. Victor Caratini has been sent to AAA Iowa to make room on the 25-man and Efren Navarro has been DFA’d to make room on the 40-man.

The timing of the move is no coincidence, as Gimenez has a June 1st opt-out in his contract if he was not on the MLB roster by then.
