The Chicago Cubs today placed right-handed pitcher Yency Almonte on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to May 8) with right shoulder strain and recalled right-handed pitcher José Cuas from Triple-A Iowa.
This is interesting, because there didn’t seem to be any sign of injury with Almonte, who had actually pitched well over his last 13 appearances — 1.32 ERA, 0.659 WHIP, 19 strikeouts in 13u2154 innings, .089 opponents BA.
