Steven Souza Jr. hadn’t gotten a lot of playing time early in this 2020 Cubs season, though he did hit a big game-tying home run Saturday against the Brewers.
Now he’ll miss some time due to a right hamstring strain, as the team placed him on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to Monday, August 17).
To replace Souza on the active roster, infielder Hernan Perez was recalled from the Cubs’ alternate training site in South Bend. To make room for Perez on the 40-man roster, lefthander Brad Wieck was transferred from the 10-day injured list to the 45-day injured list — a move that likely ends Wieck’s 2020 season.
