Cubs right fielder Seiya Suzuki was off to a fantastic start this year, batting .305/.368/.525 (18-for-59) with three home runs in 15 games, when he suffered an oblique injury running the bases in the Cubs’ win over the Mariners April 14 in Seattle.
It was stated at the time that Suzuki might miss four to six weeks.
And so here we are, just a couple of days short of four weeks later, and Suzuki was activated from the injured list by the Cubs before Friday’s game in Pittsburgh against the Pirates. Suzuki went 2-for-5 with a walk and two runs scored in a two-game rehab assignment with Triple-A Iowa.
