Cubs roster move: Robert Stock optioned to Iowa, Brad Wieck recalled

Robert Stock was called up to the Cubs from Triple-A Iowa to make what can only be termed a random start against the best pitcher in baseball.

It did not go well: four innings, six walks, five runs, a loss.

Thursday, the Cubs returned Stock to Iowa and recalled lefthanded reliever Brad Wieck.

Wieck has thrown eight scoreless innings in three different stints with the Cubs this year, allowing six hits and three walks, with nine strikeouts. With Iowa he has a 4.70 ERA and 1.696 WHIP in six appearances covering 7u2154 innings, although he was part of a combined no-hitter thrown by Iowa against Indianapolis on May 9.
