In an effort to improve the Cubs bullpen, the team today called up righthander Porter Hodge from Triple-A Iowa.
Hodge is 23 and was the Cubs 13th round pick in 2029 out of HS in Utah.
This year he has a 4.80 ERA and 1.667 WHIP in 12 appearances combined between Iowa and Double-A Tennessee. He has 26 strikeouts in 15 innings, which is great! But, he also has walked 12 in those 15 innings.
He'll replace Colten Brewer on the 26-man active roster. Brewer has been placed on the 15-day injured list with a lower back issue.
