The Cubs today activated left-handed pitcher Jordan Wicks from the 15-day injured list and optioned right-handed pitcher Porter Hodge to Triple-A Iowa.
Wicks was placed on the injured list April 25 with a left forearm strain. Prior to his IL stint, he had posted a 4.70 ERA (12 earned runs in 23 innings) with one quality start and 10.96 strikeouts per nine innings pitched in five starts this season.
Hodge made his MLB debut May 22 against Atlanta and held the opponent scoreless in five of his six outings, all of which were in relief. Hodge was charged with two runs in Thursday’s loss to the Reds, the first he had allowed in MLB, but both scored after he left the game.
