Randy Rosario was added to the Cubs’ 25-man roster Thursday, because it appeared they’d need an extra reliever with the doubleheader over the weekend and Mike Montgomery likely starting one of the Saturday games.
With Thursday’s rainout, Montgomery got shuttled back to the bullpen and Rosario wasn’t needed, so the team announced he was being sent back to Triple-A Iowa and Jason Heyward was being activated from the seven-day concussion disabled list.
Heyward hasn’t played since May 6, when he suffered the concussion trying to scale the right-field wall at Busch Stadium in St.
