The Cubs have played a bit of roster Jenga over the last few days, swapping in and out various relievers.
They did it again Thursday when they activated righthander Hayden Wesneski from the 15-day injured list. To make room on the active roster, righthander Shawn Armstrong was designated for assignment.
Wesneski has been out since July 20 with a right forearm strain. Before that, he posted a 3.94 ERA and 1.200 WHIP in 25 appearances (seven starts) covering 61u2154 innings, with a frighteningly large number of home runs (11) over those appearances.
He’s also made four rehab appearances at Triple-A Iowa over the last couple of weeks, throwing five innings and striking out seven.
