The Chicago Cubs today recalled right-handed pitcher Daniel Palencia from Triple-A Iowa and optioned right-handed pitcher Trey Wingenter to Iowa.
Palencia has posted a 7.11 ERA (10 earned runs in 12u2154 innings) in nine appearances with the Cubs this season. In 32 games (one start) with Triple-A Iowa, he is 2-1 with three saves, a 4.97 ERA (21 earned runs in 38 innings) and 66 strikeouts.
Wingenter appeared in three games in relief for Chicago following his Sept. 4 call-up, posting a 4.50 ERA (two earned runs in four innings).
