Dillon Maples has had two appearances in relief for the Cubs in the six games so far in 2020; neither had good results and Wednesday’s was particularly bad.
Thus the Cubs needed some help in the bullpen and Thursday afternoon they got it, recalling right-handed pitcher Colin Rea from the club’s South Bend Alternate Site. Right-handed pitcher Dillon Maples was optioned to the South Bend Alternate Site after last night’s game.
Rea will be available for the Cubs tonight when they conclude their four-game series at Cincinnati.
When Rea gets into a game for the Cubs it’ll be his first appearance in the major leagues since July 30, 2016 when he was with the Marlins.
