The Cubs announced Monday afternoon that they have reschedule Sunday’s snowed-out finale with the Angels for Monday, June 3. That follows the best day on the Gregorian calendar and is the first mutual off day for the two teams. It’s also the best option for the Cubs given the other two potential dates.
August 26 and September 23 were the only other possibilities, but both would see the Cubs playing too many games in too few days. Even this June makeup means 33 games in 34 days, but the September slot would have meant the same with 25 straight to close the season.
