Cubs reportedly sign veteran right-handed pitcher Josh Collmenter to a minor league contract
According to a report from Chris Cotillo, the Cubs have signed RHP Josh Collmenter to a minor league contract. The Diamondbacks designated the team’s Opening Day starter from a year ago on July 30 and released Collmenter on Aug. 7.
Collmenter, 30, was 1-0 in 15 games, all in relief, with a 4.84 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 5.68 FIP this season. Collmenter allowed 12 runs on 21 hits with 11 walks and 17 strikeouts in 22 1/3 innings.
