According to a report from Evan Drellich, the Cubs signed RHP Jake Buchanan to a minor league contract.
Buchanan spent Spring Training with the Astros as a non-roster invitee. Buchanan was 0-1 in seven relief appearances with a 3.86 ERA and 1.43 WHIP. In seven games (seven innings), he allowed three runs on 10 hits with no walks and seven strikeouts. Buchanan was reassigned to minor league camp on Tuesday.
Evan Drellich indicated the Astros released him Thursday and the Cubs quickly snapped him up.
