Cubs reportedly hire Greg Brown, Rays minor league hitting coordinator, as hitting coach

There’s a report Monday afternoon from Patrick Mooney and Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic about a new Cubs coaching hire:

The Cubs are hiring Greg Brown as their lead hitting coach, sources told The Athletic on Monday, adding an experienced teacher and a strong talent evaluator to David Ross’ major-league staff.

Brown, 41, spent the last two seasons as Tampa Bay’s minor-league hitting coordinator, gaining exposure to one of baseball’s most innovative organizations. Before that jump back into professional baseball, Brown won 316 games during his nine seasons as the head baseball coach at Nova Southeastern University in Florida.
