Cubs recall RHP Dillon Maples; Tyler Chatwood to DL

The Cubs today announced that right-handed relief pitcher Dillon Maples has been recalled from Triple-A Iowa and that right-handed pitcher Tyler Chatwood has been placed on the 10-day disabled list with right hip tightness.

This is Maples’ fourth stint with the major league club this season, although he only threw 3.1 innings in three games in the previous major league stints. In two of those appearances, he did not allow a run or a hit. Against Minnesota on July 1, he was shellacked for five runs in two-thirds of an inning.

Maples also made six major league appearances for the Cubs in 2017.
