In addition to their $4 million agreement with Justin Steele, the Cubs have avoided arbitration with their five remaining eligible players. Patrick Wisdom previously agreed to a $2.725 million salary for the 2024 season, so the Cubs won’t be headed to the table with anyone prior to camp. Jed Hoyer has rarely experienced an arbitration hearing as either GM or president, so this is par for the course.
These agreements came in a little more than $800,000 below initial estimates, which doesn’t really move the needle one way or the other.
