Matt Dermody, who threw one scoreless inning for the 2020 Cubs in this September 6 loss to the Cardinals, has been re-signed to a minor-league deal, per MLB Trade Rumors:
The Cubs have agreed to a minor league contract with left-hander Matt Dermody, MLBTR has learned. The 30-year-old southpaw will be invited to Major League Spring Training to compete for a bullpen job.
The MLBTR article also notes that the Cubs have just two lefthanded relievers on the 40-man roster, Brad Wieck and Kyle Ryan, so Dermody might have a decent shot at breaking camp with the big-league squad.
