In the trade that brought in Justin Willson and Alex Avila for Jeimer Candelario and Isaac Paredes, one other domino also fell. Aramis Ademan, who won’t turn 19 until September, was promoted to South Bend (low-A) to take the spot previously held by Paredes.
Ademan is a toolsy shortstop who deservedly earned a promotion by hitting .286 with a .379 wOBA at Eugene (short-season A). Though only 5-foot-11 and 160 pounds, the fast-twitching infielder smashed four homers in 183 plate appearances. Our own Todd Johnson pointed out that Ademan still has room to grow too, and he has a strong chance to stick at shortstop because of his agility and instincts.
