Cubs play their youth and show it in loss to the Cardinals

CHICAGO -- Seven of the eight position players the Chicago Cubs started on Monday night in a 3-2 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals were under age 27. Adding rookie Albert Almora Jr. to the starting lineup along with catcher Willson Contreras may have brought the average age down but it also opened the door for possible rookie mistakes.

Almora may have made one in the ninth inning with the Cubs trailing by a run when he tried to advance to third base on what he thought was a ball that got by catcher Yadier Molina.
