NEW YORK -- The Chicago Cubs placed outfielder Chris Coghlan on the disabled list with a rib cage injury Sunday and called up Jeimer Candelario from Triple-A Iowa to replace him on the 25-man roster.
Coghlan, who has been dealing with discomfort in his rib cage for several days, started for the Cubs in right field Saturday night. He flied out in his only at-bat before being replaced by Ben Zobrist. Coghlan expects to undergo tests Tuesday in Chicago to determine the extent of his injury.
"It's tough to gauge when you don't know how much to push or how much to back off," Coghlan said.
