The signing of infielder Jon Berti by the Cubs was noted by various reporters on social media last week and posted here in BCB After Dark on Jan. 23.
Today, the Cubs made this signing official by press release. To make room on the 40-man roster for Berti, infielder Luis Vázquez was designated for assignment.
The reported salary for Berti was $2 million, with incentives also possible.
