CHICAGO – Though it’s a day off for the Chicago Cubs it doesn’t mean there isn’t action on the field affecting them.

Heading into Thursday’s slate of games the Cubs magic number to clinch a playoff berth is two – meaning any combination of Cubs victories and San Francisco Giants losses which adds up to two means the Cubs are in the playoffs for the first time since 2008.
