Cubs Not Believed to Be Interested in Signing Aroldis Chapman to Long-Term Deal

Cubs reportedly not interested in signing Aroldis Chapman to a long-term contract

When the Cubs acquired Aroldis Chapman from the Yankees for Gleyber Torres, Adam Warren, Billy McKinney and Rashad Crawford on July 25 it was for one reason only, to help the team win The World Series. Chapman did what the front office brought him in to do and he hit the free agent market after the Cubs won The Series.

It was believed at the time the Cubs traded for Chapman that the front office viewed him as a rental and would not pursue a long-term deal with him.
