Today, the Chicago Cubs announced their minor league organizational players of the month for April. While Tennessee’s Dan Vogelbach edged out teammate Kyle Schwarber for Hitter of the Month, South Bend’s Jeremy Null was named Pitcher of the Month.
Null, a 6’7″ right handed starter, throws over the top on a steep downhill plane. Armed with a hard-to-hit sinker, Null dominated the Midwest League in April. In four starts, the young 21 year old went 2-0 with 23 strikeouts and zero walks in 22.2 innings. His ERA is 0.79 and his WHIP is an impressive 0.79 as well. In addition, Null coaxed 16 ground ball outs while only relying on 17 fly ball outs.
