After initial reports that they were going to wait until Monday to announce their roster assignments, the Cubs changed course and pushed the information out Sunday evening. That actually makes perfect sense because it’s in keeping with the rest of the MLB news cycle over the last few months.
Part of the delay may have come due to communication with various players and because there are still some moves to be made. To wit, the initial roster of just 50 players — 39 at Wrigley Field and 11 in South Bend — is 10 shy of the allowed number.
