Cubs reduce Spring Training Roster to 40 Players … Nine Players Sent to Minor League Camp, Seven of Nine Optioned to Triple-A Iowa

The Cubs announced the second round of Spring Training Roster cuts prior to the second of two practice games Tuesday night. The Cubs assigned nine players to minor league camp, reducing their spring roster from 49 to 40 players.

Right-handed pitchers Luke Farrell, Cory Mazzoni, Alec Mills and Jen-Ho Tseng; left-handed pitchers Dario Alvarez and Rob Zastryzny; and infielder David Bote have been optioned to Triple-A Iowa.
