ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Cubs had already lost the three-game series to the Angels before the finale Thursday. And their losses Tuesday and Wednesday played out like different versions of the same story.
They both had a solid starting pitching performance, an Angels rally against a reliever or two, and their comeback attempt quelled with the bases loaded.
“We had a really good month, and we had a really bad month, and we need to play well,” president of baseball operations Jed Hoyer said Tuesday afternoon. “And the frustrating thing, I think, is that we haven’t been able to rattle off win streaks.
