Jose Gonzalez tripled, singled twice, stole a base, and knocked-in a run, Jhonny Bethencourt tripled and singled and scored a run, and Zach Davis belted a solo HR, as the Cubs rallied to edge the Athletics 6-5 in Cactus League Extended Spring Training game action Wednesday morning on Field #4 at the Lew Wolff Training Complex at Fitch Park in Mesa, AZ.
The Zach Davis home run is noteworthy because prior to 2017 Davis was a RH-hitter only. He began switch-hitting at Minor League Camp this past March to take better advantage of his plus-speed, but he has had trouble making contact (he is third on the team in strikeouts) and (when he does make contact) hitting the ball with authority from the left side.
