WASHINGTON — Cubs co-owner Todd Ricketts, who led GOP fundraising efforts to reelect former President Donald Trump, was reappointed Wednesday to another term as the Republican National Committee finance chair.
The move suggests that Ricketts, a Wilmette resident, is not seriously considering a run for Illinois governor in 2022. A member of the billionaire Ricketts family, his name has been mentioned as a potential candidate.
Republican National Committee chair Ronna McDaniel said in a statement to the Chicago Sun-Times, “In addition to being a fantastic fundraiser, Todd has become a great friend. We are absolutely committed to taking back the House and Senate in 2022 and our party is lucky to have his leadership in this fight.
