The Cubs announced Wednesday that they have claimed 31-year-old righty Robert Stock off waivers from the Red Sox. No relation to the late Unsolved Mysteries host*, the journeyman is 2-2 with four holds and a 4.24 ERA in 52 career relief appearances between the Padres (2018-19) and Red Sox (2020). He has 67 strikeouts and 31 walks in 63.2 innings, a good chunk of which came two years ago with San Diego.
Originally selected by St. Louis in the second round of the 2009 draft as a catcher out of the University of Southern California, Stock was converted to the mound in 2012 and is 22-11 with 17 saves and a 3.
