According to a report from Carrie Muskat, the Cubs and OF Chris Coghlan agreed to terms on a one-year contract and avoided arbitration.
Chris Coghlan settled with the Cubs for $4.8 million. Coghlan was paid $2.505 million last season and was projected to make between $3.3-3.8 million for 2016. Coghlan received $1 million more than his highest projection.
Coghlan is in the final year of arbitration. He becomes a free agent following the 2016 season.
The Cubs have avoided arbitration with eight of the nine arbitration eligible players, only RHP Jake Arrieta did not agree to terms Friday.
