CHICAGO -- The Chicago Cubs were surprised to see one of their former player in an undercover video recently admitting to taking performance-enhancing drugs. Catcher Taylor Teagarden was with the organization only in 2015, appearing in eight games in the majors and 63 more in the minors; he implicated himself in a report by Al-Jazeera made after last season. Teagarden says he used a banned substance “last year” and was “scared” because of an upcoming drug test, which he passed. The report was news to Cubs president Theo Epstein.
“Completely surprised,” Epstein said Friday afternoon.
