Free-agent starting pitchers began signing early this offseason, and the Cubs reacted to the market movement by bolstering their rotation to check off a goal near the top of their to-do list.
The Cubs agreed to terms on a two-year, $29 million contract with left-hander Matthew Boyd, sources confirmed Monday. The deal, which is pending the results of a physical, includes up to an additional $1 million in performance bonuses.
