The Cubs are trading for Tom Cosgrove, sources have confirmed to Cubs Insider. Cosgrove appeared in 18 games with the Padres last season, posting a 5.83 ERA in 14.2 innings. He’s a left-handed reliever with an odd arm angle, providing depth as the season keeps rolling.

Caleb Kilian has also been designated for assignment. Kilian was acquired in 2021 as part of the Kris Bryant trade. He appeared in eight games with the major league team, spending most of his time injured or with the Iowa Cubs.
