As first reported by Jon Heyman after being rumored elsewhere, the Cubs have acquired lefty reliever Josh Osich from the Red Sox for a player to be named later. This comes shortly after they traded for southpaw Andrew Chafin, also for a PTBNL, so Theo Epstein really made good on his word when it came to their deadline priorities.

The 31-year-old Osich won’t be a free agent until 2023 and still has a minor-league option available, so he gives the Cubs a little more flexibility than Chafin.
