The Cubs made a minor trade late Friday to give their bullpen more depth, per a press release from the team.
They acquired righthander Casey Sadler from the Dodgers in exchange for minor-league infielder Clayton Daniel. Sadler had been designated for assignment by the Dodgers earlier this week to make room for their signing of Alex Wood.
Sadler, who is 29, was the 25th-round pick of the Pirates in 2010. He pitched briefly for the Bucs in 2013, 2014 and 2018 (missing the entire 2016 season due to Tommy John surgery), then signed with the Rays last winter and appeared in a few games for them.
