You did not have “The Cubs are going to sweep the Orioles” on this week’s baseball bingo card.
No one did.
And yet, after a convincing 8-0 win Thursday in Baltimore, that’s exactly where we stand. This is the team I thought the Cubs had at the start of this season — solid starting pitching, timely hitting of various kinds, and enough relief work to finish things off.
It was the Cubs’ fourth win in a row and sixth of seven, and their first sweep of a three-game series since they did it to the Astros at Wrigley Field April 23-25.
