Just one day after perhaps the Cubs’ worst game of the season, they came out with bats blazing in the first inning, putting five on the board, and Jameson Taillon set a season high (and his best as a Cub) with 10 strikeouts. The Cubs returned the Friday blowout favor to the Mets with an impressive 8-1 win. They hadn’t scored eight runs in a game since May 11 in Pittsburgh — and they lost that one 10-9.
Let’s begin at the beginning. Taillon struck out a pair in the first inning and then the Cubs got to work.
