The Cubs sometimes rise to the occasion after rain delays. You’re probably familiar with a certain such occurrence in 2016.
It happened again Tuesday evening at Wrigley Field. The Cubs spotted the White Sox a 5-0 lead, then a rather intense but brief thundershower delayed play with one out in the top of the fifth. After the delay the Cubs came roaring back, with Ian Happ’s two-run double in the eighth producing the winning runs in a 7-6 Cubs victory over their South Side rivals.
