The big story of this Sunday is the Cubs’ trade of Christopher Morel (and others) to the Rays for Isaac Paredes.
While all that was getting sorted out, the Cubs played another solid game and defeated the Royals 7-3, winning the series in Kansas City. It’s the Cubs’ first series win since they swept the Orioles in Baltimore before the All-Star break.
I’ll have a few comments on the Morel/Paredes deal to come, but for now let’s look back at another nicely-played game.
The Cubs didn’t score in the top of the first and then Javier Assad walked the first Royals batter he faced.
