If you’ve been around baseball long enough, you probably remember today’s recap headline as a statement from longtime Baltimore Orioles manager Earl Weaver when asked what wins baseball games.
“Pitching, defense and three-run homers” was always Weaver’s response, and the Cubs got all three on another chilly Saturday afternoon at Wrigley Field in defeating the Padres 7-1 for their fifth straight win.
