At last, the Cubs got a key extra-base hit with runners in scoring position. Seems like it’s been forever since that happened.
Ian Happ’s two-out, three-run homer in the seventh inning opened up a close game and the Cubs got outstanding pitching from Shu014dta Imanaga and Tyson Miller and defeated the Cardinals 5-1, evening up the three-game series at one win each.
This game started a lot like Friday’s, with starters Imanaga and Andre Pallante dominating. The Cubs did manage to get the first two men on base in the second, on singles by Seiya Suzuki and Happ, but the next three Cubs went down in order.
