OSS: Cubs score early and often, hang on to win it.
Three up:
- Zach Davies looked pretty good in his Cubs debut, cruising through his first five innings while never allowing more than one baserunner at a time and striking out five. He ran out of gas in the sixth and gave up a two run homer, but overall everything appears to be as advertised.
- Craig Kimbrel was straight fire for the second day in a row, and nailed down the one-run save with very little drama. This was the guy that the Cubs signed, and much like Darvish it apparently took two seasons for him to show up.
