MESA, Arizona — Well, they’re still undefeated.

The Cubs were that close — as noted above, one strike away — from winning Thursday afternoon’s game, when Brooks Kriske served up a two-run homer to Angels minor leaguer Kyren Paris. The Cubs loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth but could not score, and so the game ended in a 4-4 tie, the team’s second straight deadlock by that score.
